Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is one of the leading causes of heart failure with a poor prognosis. Nicotinamide riboside kinase-2 (NRK-2), a muscle-specific β1 integrin-binding protein, is predominantly expressed in skeletal muscle and upregulates in several heart failure models.
