Abstract

Background: Sinoatrial node (SAN) dysfunction is a clinical disorder characterized by the inability of the SAN to maintain an appropriate heart rate (HR). Patients with this condition often need an electronic pacemaker. Although it is the current standard of care, devices can have complications. A biological pacemaker has been created by adenovirus expressing TBX18 as an alternative.
