Abstract

AbstractBackgroundWe want to find out how the intervention of cognitive rehabilitation group programs based on sensory activities can affect the cognitive function, depression and quality of life for the elderly with dementia living in the facility.MethodIn this study, the cognitive rehabilitation group program based on the sensory activity of 20 cycles is applied to 10 the elderly with dementia facility to determine if it is effective by pre‐ and post‐evaluation of cognitive function, depression and quality of life. Cognitive function is evaluated as MMSE‐DS, depression as S‐GDS‐K, and quality of life as WHOQOL‐BREF.ResultAs a result of this study, the MMSE‐DS score increased by 3.20, the S‐GDS‐K score decreased by 4.32, and the WHOQOL‐BREF score increased by 7.05.ConclusionTherefore, sensory activity‐based cognitive rehabilitation programs are effective for the elderly with dementia living in the facility.
